The Bob Crump (Asylum) Power Cord

After completing the VenHaus
power cord I just had to try this DIY power cord too. The
Asylum Power Cord and the VenHaus Power Cord are often
compared between each other, be it on one news group or
another, and from time to time there's quite a debate on which
sounds better. So here's a chance for you to read my take on
which works better for me. If you had a chance to compare
these two, drop us a line and tell us your preference.
This DIY power cord is called the Asylum power cord because
Bob Crump of TG Audio Lab originally posted the project on

I will stick to the original plan in most part, deviating
slightly only in regards to the drain wire (more about that
soon). |

Here's what you will need as material for this
DIY project (I got this list straight from the Asylum group
posting):

Five Audio.

- Wire Belden 19364, which is 14/3 SJT, 6 foot in length
(or other lengths as required).
- IEC Schurter 4300.0603
(Please Note: item
pictured and used in this DIY project is: Schurter
4781.0100)
- Wall plug Pass & Seymour 5266-X
- Good quality solder (I used some WBT silver solder)
